How You Can Help
November 5, 2010
Dear Friends of the Santa Rosa Children's Chorus,
This time of year your mail box will be filled with repeat requests for your generous gifts to many worthy causes. I have a stack of them on my counter as well. Most of them do excellent work, and many do similar things for those in need, and we hope that you can support them.
The Santa Rosa Children's Chorus, however, is unique among those whose requests you will receive this year. While we all know the body must be fed and clothed, it is all too true that the spirit and imagination must be nurtured as well. The gift of learning to soar with the beautiful music that flows from your own lips, in concert with the others standing shoulder to shoulder with you, is what we offer to the young people in our community. Music reaches past so many troubles and differences, and brings harmony that can extend beyond just soothing our listening ears. It reaches deeply, offering a peaceful respite from the pressures of society.
For the past twenty-five years, the Santa Rosa Children's Chorus has taught our young people the basics of music theory, brought them the gift of reading music, helped them discover how to make beautiful music, and given them the opportunity to sing for you – in concert, with the Sonoma County Bach Choir, with the Santa Rosa Symphony, at the Little League, the Christmas Tree Lighting, nursing homes, and as musical ambassadors abroad. We have brought a professional quality children's chorus to Santa Rosa. In recognition of this, in June of this year Mayor Gorin proclaimed the Santa Rosa Children's Chorus as the "Official Children's Chorus of the City of Santa Rosa."
Won't you help us to continue to do this? Your donation will enable us to keep doing what we have done so well for so long, and to offer scholarships to those who need them. You know that music programs in the schools are being cut, the after school programs are suffering, and yet needs of the children for these things does not diminish. Won't you join our ranks of angels, and make a generous donation to support music in the lives of our children through the Santa Rosa Children's Chorus?
Please also plan to join us at our Choral Celebration on Sunday, November 28th at 4 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Windsor. Our entire chorus of 65 children will be joined by the wonderful ensemble Cantiamo Sonoma to ring in the holiday season! Tickets are available in advance from our singers and through contacting our office (527-8813) and at the door.
With all best wishes,

Diane Schoenrock
